Fabrica origins

Fabrica's approach to placing real property into a purpose-built trust controlled by a blockchain token has been developed and refined across multiple iterations since around 2017, with the platform operating publicly since 2018. Both the legal instrument and the protocol have gone through several generations as the design matured. Early versions established the basic structure of holding title in a trust whose beneficial interest is represented by a transferable token; later versions moved progressively toward self-custody, reliance on onchain data and signatures rather than offchain inputs, and a clearer treatment of the token under commercial law.

The detailed, version-by-version record in this changelog begins with the current protocol generation: the v3 trust instrument, the v3 application, and the v3 smart contracts. Earlier generations are summarized here at a high level rather than itemized, because the public record of their exact contents is limited and this changelog avoids stating specifics it cannot source. The throughline across every generation is the same: a single token that controls a legally recognized trust, designed so that transferring the token transfers control of the underlying property.
